Social Posts to Make Your Business Stand Out

Computer with social posts on screen

In the past we’ve talked about how to plan ahead when it comes to creating a social calendar, and how to consistently post for your business on social media. But what should you actually post about? You want your social posts to stand out from everyone else’s while still looking professional and providing necessary information to consumers. Social posts should also highlight your business and the people who work there's personality though, and make it seem like an approachable place that people want to patronize. Which leads us into today's topic: Social post ideas to make your business stand out (while still being professional!).

In general these posts fall into three main categories: Get to know us, customer engagement, and good-natured fun. We’ll talk about each category a little more in depth and give some post examples below.

Get to know us:

These posts are going to be the way you give your customers more insight into your business and give it a personality. You want to highlight things consumers otherwise wouldn’t get to see. Post ideas of this kind can be: behind the scenes looks at something like prep work for a dish, or brainstorming for a meeting or design; Staff highlights where you can have employees talk about themselves, their role, and why they love your business; Have an employee do a spend the day with me on the business’ stories for a day; And how-to content like if your business has a signature way to fold clothes or do latte art, give the public a tutorial of how they can recreate aspects of your business in their lives! Posts like these help foster an authentic connection between your business and customers because you’re peeling away at the professional, corporate wall that most businesses have up. Being real pays off! Customers know real authenticity from faux.

Customer Engagement:

These posts are exactly what they sound like: engage with your customers! This is a great way to build rapport with your customers and have them feel like they matter. Post ideas for customer engagement can look like: giveaways, have customers like and tag friends for the chance to win a gift card, company swag, or an experience; Use customer testimonials for your social posts, take reviews from your business and use them for your content to show why people love what you do; And give customers the opportunity to ask questions or give suggestions as a story prompt. If people feel like they’re being listened to and that their input is actually wanted and encouraged, they’re more likely to want to give you their business.

Good-Natured Fun:

Social posts can be fun and still be professional! Don’t shy away from having a good time while creating content. Customers will pick up on the fact you’re not afraid to be funny and they’ll appreciate the authenticity! Post ideas of this kind can include: making posts for any fun international or national holidays that are relevant to your business (ex: national cinnamon roll day post for a bakery!), there's about a billion of these so you’re bound to find a few that work; and use trending memes and audios that can work for what your business does; And try making your own meme or audio and see what happens!

Social content doesn’t have to be all work, no play. It’s good to allow your posts to have some personality and stand out. But maybe you don’t know where to start when it comes to creating content like that. That’s where we come in! Contact us to see how we can help with all you’re content creation needs!
