The Keep, Start, Stop Method

Traffic light all lit up

Keep, stop, start, is an easy and efficient way to help go over your company’s marketing to see what’s working and what isn’t. As the name implies it helps you understand what to keep doing, start doing, and stop doing. It can be helpful to do it as often as quarterly, but even just once a year will suffice and be incredibly insightful.

The idea behind this method is that once a year, do an audit on your business. Look at the data and see what is and isn’t working for your company. Start doing more of what’s working, stop putting time into what isn't. Look at social channels and open rates on email newsletters and see if it’s serving your business in the best possible way. With newsletters for example, should the template be updated if it isn't getting a lot of clicks? Or does it just make sense to stop investing time in it? If it is getting a lot of clicks, keep it as is. If something that isn’t doing well can’t be improved any more, just stop doing it. It can be frustrating to get rid of something you spent time developing and working on, but it will serve your company best in the long run.
