The holidays will be here before we know it, and everyone deserves to take time off during the season. For those of us who own small businesses, especially ones that produce and sell products though, taking time off during your busiest season seems like a huge no. But, it is possible! That’s why we’re giving tips for you to employ in your small business so you and your staff can enjoy the holidays worry free this year!

Plan Ahead

As far in advance as possible, determine when and for how long you’re planning to be closed. The more time you have to prepare, the better! This also gives you ample time to let your customers know when they need to make purchases before so they don’t miss out on anything they need.

Inventory Management

Take stock of what you already have. Make plans to produce more best sellers to account for holiday and post holiday demand. This is why planning ahead is so important, you need the extra time to increase product without overworking your staff. To better understand demand you can also offer pre orders to people on email lists, look back at past holiday season sales, etc.

Customer Communication:

Let your customers know you’ll be closed so they can plan ahead too! Send emails, post on social media, put the message as a website header, signs in stores, say it in as many places as possible. Also, be as clear and persistent as possible reminding customers about order deadlines to receive their packages on time.

Financial Planning:
Since you’ll be closed, you won’t be making any money in sales. Make sure to think about this so when the time comes around you’re prepared for the lack of income during the closure. If you’re worried about this and want to make as many sales as possible before you close, consider doing sales, bundles, and or free shipping to encourage larger purchases.

Set Up Automated Systems:

Set up a voicemail that gives the date you’ll be closed for, email auto-responses relaying the same message, plan and schedule social posts for the whole time you’ll be gone. This way nothing sits stagnant and will be ready for you to jump back in when you’re back seamlessly.

Remember to take time off this year to make memories with friends and family. Business is important, but not as important as enjoying the small moments in your life. But, if this seems like too much for you to handle on your own, or you just don’t want to do it, think about outsourcing! Book your consultation with us now at mca-marketing.com/contact
